Dr. Kevin McNamee’s Story
The strength of Thousand Oaks lies in its residents. It’s a place where we care for our families, look after our neighbors, and actively engage in our community. I refer to Thousand Oaks as the Gem of California because there is no other city like it in the state.

For the past three and a half years, I have had the honor of serving this great city as your council member, bringing creative solutions to the challenges facing our city and county. During this time, I have worked on over 38 projects aimed at addressing the homeless crisis, improving public safety, job creation, business growth, quality of life, workforce housing for essential professions, water sustainability and reuse.

My professional journey equips me with a diverse skill set for council discussions. This began with rigorous academic pursuits, earning Bachelor’s degrees in Bioengineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and in Human Biology from Southern California University. Building on this foundation, I advanced my expertise with specialized degrees from esteemed institutions, including an MBA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and certificates in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine and Dalian Medical College in China and Doctor of Chiropractic from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic.

My expertise extends beyond academia, as demonstrated by my extensive experience in private practice at the California Health Institute. Here, I have integrated acupuncture, Asian medicine, chiropractic care, and physiotherapy to provide comprehensive care to my patients. At the Westminster Free Clinic, I volunteer my chiropractic and acupuncture skills to the underserved and uninsured in our community.

As a California Board-certified operator in Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, and instructor at Ventura College, I offer innovative and cost-effective solutions to address water sustainability and reuse for our city and region. By collaborating with neighboring cities, we can reduce our dependence on the Metropolitan Water District and lower water rates, bringing water management into the 21st century.

Public safety is always a priority in council decisions. My experience as a reserve LAPD officer with Air Support (retired) underscores the importance of having safe streets and neighborhoods, which are essential for families to grow and prosper.

Listening to Resident's Thoughts About Thousand Oaks
On weekends, I visit local malls, shopping centers, and businesses to talk with Thousand Oaks residents about their views on the city. I then submit my notes to the city manager, who instructs our department managers to take appropriate action.
